Bull and Bear Market
What do animals have to do with the stock market?
BULL MARKET
When each year the market made new highs compared to the previous year and the lows of each year were higher than the lows of the previous year. This is a Bull Market trend. That means the overall direction of the market (as indicated by the Dow Jones Industrial Average, also known as DJIA or the "Dow") is up.
BEAR MARKET
A Bear Market Trend actually begins when you start to see a series of successive price declines to lower levels. This is the exact opposite of what happened to the DJIA.
