The Russell 2000
The Russell 2000 Index measures the performance of the 2,000 smallest companies in the Russell 3000 Index. As of the latest reconstitution, the average market capitalization was approximately $526.4 million. This Index gives a good indication of how the small cap market is performing in any given market environment. Because there are so many stocks, a big move in an individual stock has very little effect on the overall index.
